The Hearo bed mat system is designed to help monitor bed occupancy reliably. The setup contains three pieces of hardware:
• Bed mat
• Control box
• Wireless sensor
The bed mat and wireless sensor both connect to the control box using cables. These connections should always remain secure and in place.
Placement of the Bed Mat
Every bed setup is slightly different. In many cases, the mat is placed on a standard box spring and mattress. Where there is no box spring, we may provide a platform for the mat to sit on. This ensures the mat has a rigid, stable surface.
Positioning is key for proper performance:
• Place the mat on the side of the bed where the individual usually sleeps.
• The mat is wide enough to account for normal movement during sleep, but adjustments may still be necessary.
• A common placement is horizontally centered under the shoulder area.
If the individual sleeps closer to an edge, move the mat to that side. Finding the “sweet spot” may take a few tries.
Recalibration
Recalibration is sometimes needed, especially after a mattress change or when the mat is moved.
To recalibrate:
1. Make sure the bed is empty and the mattress is properly seated on the frame or box spring.
2. Locate the control box.
3. Press and hold the single button on the control box. A firm press is required.
4. Hold for a few seconds until a red light flashes. This confirms successful calibration.
Testing the Sensor
After calibration, test the sensor:
• Apply pressure on the mattress where the mat sits, or have the individual lay down as usual.
• To verify, expose the sensor so the light is visible.
You should see a green light flash when the bed becomes occupied and again when it becomes unoccupied.
If you do not see the green light, please contact Hearo Support for assistance.
